The staff at Overton Funeral Homes in Dysart and Traer, Iowa are focused on providing complete funeral planning assistance for survivors, and affordable, personalized pre-planning services to ensure that your service honors the deceased and his or her loved ones. Our team includes three funeral directors and several funeral assistants and is dedicated to serving our clients with compassion, individual service, and a commitment to your loved one. Christine Erie

Manager

Christine started with Overton Funeral Homes and Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories in 2003. She was raised in Waterloo. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science. In 2017, Christine pursued other ventures, but in 2020, returned to where she got her start and to the friends and neighbors she served for many years. Christine and her husband Greg are lifelong residents of Waterloo, and are members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. They have one child, Henry, who graduated from Columbus High School and will be attending the University of Iowa. She is very active in the community.

Shannon Frost joined Overton Funeral Homes in April of 2022, bringing warmth, dedication, and a true passion for serving families during their most difficult times. A lifelong resident of Cedar Falls, Shannon is a proud member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, though she enjoys visiting many different congregations throughout the year. Shannon graduated from the Mortuary Science program at DMACC in 2023 and earned her license in August 2025. She also holds an EMT degree from Hawkeye Community College (1997) and a Medical Specialist degree from Hamilton Business College (1999), giving her a unique blend of skills and compassion that she brings to her work every day. Family is at the heart of Shannon’s life. She and her husband, Troy, are the proud parents of four children—Jackson, Grace, Piper, and Griffin. The three oldest are current or former students at the University of Iowa, while Griffin is a senior at Columbus Catholic High School. Whether she’s cheering at her kids’ events or traveling with them, Shannon treasures every moment spent with her family. Beyond her career and family, Shannon is deeply involved in her community. She runs a local volleyball club, volunteers at elementary schools in Waterloo, and finds joy in traveling and supporting her sons’ sports activities. At home, she’s happiest spoiling her three beloved pups—Koda, Minkah, and Max.

Matthew was raised in Sutton, Nebraska, and graduated from Sutton Public Schools. After high school, he moved to Iowa and attended North Iowa Area Community College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. He is currently continuing his education at Des Moines Area Community College, furthering his commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. In his spare time, Matthew is an avid Oklahoma Sooners and Cleveland Browns football fan. He also enjoys spending time outdoors,

Angela Chambers

Angela Chambers

Embalmer/Removal Specialist

Angela was first employed with Overton Parrot & Wood Funeral Homes in 2006 as a student prior to attending Mortuary School In Des Moines, IA. While in Des Moines she continued employment with Brooks Funeral Care until graduation in 2008 and returning to the Waterloo area. She was employed as a Trade Embalmer for approximately Sixteen years preceding her return to Parrott & Wood in 2025 as a Decedent Care Specialist.  She also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Upper Iowa University and is currently finishing a Thesis for a Master’s Degree in Thanatology.  Angela was raised within the Waterloo area and resides in Evansdale. She has deep compassion for all animals and has 3 fur babies: Shadow, Barkley and Huxley.  She is an active supporter of animal rescues and a strong animal advocate in general.  Angela enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities, quality time with family, thrifting for Hollywood Regency era decor and dedicated to spiritual devotion.
