Waverly

Jane Ann (Bradley) Gaston of Traer, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She was 85 years old.

Jane was born on June 28, 1939, to Albert and Florence (Yohn) Bradley. Along with her twin sister Jean, she was the 6th of 12 children.

Jane married Walter Gaston in 1956 at the Little Brown Church. Residing in Traer, Walter and Jane started their family of 4 children. Together, they created a home for their children. Tagging off household responsibilities, Jane worked at the Traer Hotel cleaning rooms and the Local car dealer cleaning and detailing cars. While Walter worked at Rath.

Jane always found time for fun, and never a dull moment would settle in. Creating a home and decorating with her hand-finished furnishings. Jane always stayed busy and was a hard worker with no job too big or too hard kind of attitude. . She could do anything without even a thought. Always ready to help out her family and friends with whatever needed to be done. Quick-witted humor filled the home with many games of "hide and seek" or tag, among others. It was not uncommon to find Jane jumping on the bed alongside her little ones.

Later, the family moved to Waterloo Iowa, where they settled in on Dundee Ave. Where she applied her work and talents and made the house become the often-called "nicest one on the block". Jane held a lot of pride in her home and family.

Jane loved to dance and have fun with her friends and family. She often attended the local music venues, where she would dance all night. Country Western songs are always played on the radio, with George Jones, Conway Twitty among her favorites. Jane worked at the Santa Clause Industry, Waterloo Industries, and the Iowa schools, among other seasonal jobs like detasseling corn and delivering phonebooks.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Walter Gaston; one son, Glen Gaston; sisters Ardis Tanner, Ida Schwartz, and Kathy Schmit; brothers Wayne, Chuck, Roger, and Steve Bradley; and many family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Imogene “Birdie” McNeal of Waterloo, IA, Mary Lou Miller of Marshalltown, IA, and Wanda (Frank Martinez) of Waverly, IA; two brothers, Lynus (Marlene) Bradley of Traer, IA, and Danny (Marty) Bradley of Traer, IA; two sisters, Jean Novotny of Traer, IA, and Linda Moeller of Tama, IA; seven grandchildren; Wayne (Jasmine) Gaston of LaPorte City, IA, Casaundra “Sissy” Gaston of Waterloo, IA, Amanda McNeal of Waterloo, IA, Trever McNeal of Waterloo, IA, Meghan (Zach) Milhous of Marshalltown, IA, KC (May) Miller of Marshalltown, IA, and Glen “Pokey” (Kirstin) Gaston of Waverly, IA; and 14 great grandchildren.
