Dixie Lee Christian

Dixie Lee Christian, 86, of Vinton, formerly of Dysart, passed away peacefully, on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Birdee Cottage in Waterloo.

Dixie was born on September 10, 1939, in Del Norte, Colorado, daughter of Howard and Betty (Greever) Glasener.

On August 28, 1959, Dixie married the love of her life, Duane Christian, he preceded her in death on May 15, 2025. They resided in LPC while Duane worked at John Deere before buying their acreage north of Dysart. Dixie owned and operated Modern Beauty Salon in LaPorte City, for 45 years. She was a past president of the National Hairdressers Association.

Dixie enjoyed reading and listening to Elvis. She was an excellent cook and sang in the church choir. She had a love for the Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. Her and Duane would make small trips admiring his beautiful homes. In recent years, they have spent the winter months in their Florida condo and have enjoyed entertaining their family and friends.

Dixie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 66 years, Duane; son-in-law, Scott Powell and a sister, Jane Glasener. She is survived by three daughters, Kimberly Strang of Sarasota, Florida, Karla (Andy) Elliot of Littleton, Colorado and Kristina Powell of LaPorte City; nine grandchildren, Ryan Strang, Brittany Peterson, Allex Ryken, Conner, Karlee and Kallin Elliot, Kylie Crees, Wesley Powell and Courtney Entriken; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert Glasener of Des Moines, David (Cindy) Glasener of Cedar Falls and Burt (Holly) Glasener of Independence.
