Dennis Lee Steinmetz

Dennis Lee Steinmetz Sr. was born on September 18, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Howard and Doris (Schley) Steinmetz.  He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School and then attended Kirkwood Community College and UNI.  Dennis served his country in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969.  On August 22, 1971, he was united in marriage to Diana Ross.  Dennis was a self-employed carpenter for many years.  He was a resident of Traer for 40 years and was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and the Traer American Legion.  He enjoyed puzzles, crafting, church activities, and being involved with the legion.  Dennis died at the age of 76 on July 6, 2023.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a brother, David.  Dennis is survived by 4 children, Christina (Jason) Toulouse, Dennis Steinmetz II, Andrea (Damir) Insanic, and Eric (Kricket Roberts) Steinmetz; grandchildren, Sonja and Triston Toulouse, Selma Insanic, and Gabrielle, Allysa, and Sophia Roberts; and a great granddaughter, Amelia Roberts.
