David Leonard Papesh

On June 30, 2026, the city of Traer lost a loving and well-known citizen. David Leonard Papesh went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

As a young man, David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Most of his working years he was employed in various sales positions.

David was well known throughout Traer for his service to the community and his church. He served many years as a crossing guard, watching the future of Traer arrive at school safe. When not at the crossing, he was working around his favorite place, United Presbyterian Church, his second home. He loves the freedom of long drives listening to his favorite music.

Waiting in Heaven for David are his parents, Marlys and Leonard Papesh; brother, Larry Papesh; and nephew, Christopher Camp . Left to cherish precious memories are son, Mike Papesh and wife Rita; grandson, Cody Papesh; sister, Linda Pearson and husband Gary; and many other family members, and friends.

To honor David, a service will be 10:00 AM at United Presbyterian Church of Traer on July 7, 2026. Burial will follow in Oneida Cemetery in Clutier. The family will receive guests on Monday, July 6, 2026 between the hours of 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM at Overton Funeral Home in Traer.

Rest in peace my friend. You will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing you.
