Daniel Halupnik

Daniel “Dan” Louis Halupnik was born on October 27, 1957, in Waterloo, the son of Ernest and Winifred (Duffy) Halupnik.  Dan grew up in Traer and graduated from North Tama High School in 1976.  He was a proud member of the football and wrestling team.  He then attended Iowa State University.  Dan helped his parents on the farm and had several jobs for businesses in Traer.  He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, visiting friends, and being on the farm.  He was a kind man, was always smiling, and very considerate of others.  After his father passed, Dan and his mother took care of each other.  Dan died unexpectedly at the age of 66 on December 10, 2023, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital.  He was preceded in death by his parents.  Dan is survived by 3 siblings, Tom (Cindy) Halupnik of Germantown, Tennessee, Kathy (Jim) Flack of Waterloo, and Delores Halupnik of Waterloo; and a niece and 2 nephews, Brad (Jaime) Halupnik and their children, Hayes, Hudson, and Carson, of Collierville, Tennessee, Jennifer (Austin) Jones of Kansas City, and Brett (Betsy) Flack and their children, Lillian and Conrad, of Minnetrista, Minnesota.  The funeral will be on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Traer.  The visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service at the church.  Please direct memorials to the Cedar Valley Ranch (2591 61^st St Ln, Vinton, IA 52349), where Dan lived for over 20 years.
